One of the greatest fears of senior citizens living alone is that they may fall or become ill—and no one would know.

ECHO, which stands for Elderly Call Help Organization, is a telephone reassurance program. Volunteers call frail senior citizens during weekday mornings to see that they are safe and well. The volunteers then call the ECHO Coordinator to report on the participants’ well-being.

The callers also provide much-appreciated personal contact with seniors who are socially isolated. In addition, ECHO provides access to community services, emergency follow-up, and help when problems arise.

ECHO is for people who are age 60 and older, live alone, and have medical and/or physical conditions that put them at risk of injury or illness.
